About the tutoring

Lessons that fit where you are right now.

Every learner arrives with a different history with German — some are starting completely fresh, others are returning after years away, and some just want to feel more confident speaking. Lessons at KlarDeutsch are built around where you actually are, not where a textbook assumes you should be.

Tony works with you one-on-one, adjusting the pace, focus, and materials to match your specific goals — whether that is building everyday vocabulary, untangling grammar, or simply getting more comfortable speaking out loud.

Who it's for

Tutoring for different points in the German journey.

01

Starting from scratch

No prior German knowledge needed. We begin with the sounds, patterns, and everyday phrases that actually come up in conversation — before grammar rules get in the way.

02

Returning after a gap

You studied German years ago and remember fragments. A few focused sessions can bring it back faster than starting over, and you can pick up where things actually got difficult.

03

Wanting more speaking practice

You can read and write reasonably well, but speaking feels hesitant. Conversation-focused sessions give you a low-pressure space to practice thinking and responding in German.

04

Working on grammar and vocabulary

Certain structures keep tripping you up — cases, word order, verb conjugations. We work through the patterns that matter most and connect them to language you actually use.

05

Wanting structured one-on-one time

Apps and self-study can only go so far. Regular sessions with a tutor who can answer questions, correct mistakes gently, and adjust the direction keeps progress moving forward.

What we work on

Areas of focus in tutoring sessions.

These are the areas we cover in tutoring — not certification tracks or formal curriculum. Each session focuses on what is most useful for you right now.

Speaking

Conversation practice, pronunciation, thinking in German rather than translating.

Vocabulary

Building useful word banks for everyday situations rather than memorizing lists.

Grammar

Cases, verb forms, word order — explained clearly with examples that stick.

Reading

Working through texts at your level, building comprehension and confidence.

Listening

Understanding spoken German at natural speed, with different voices and accents.

Everyday Communication

Practical German for real situations — travel, work, conversation, daily life.

Tony's approach

Explanations that actually make sense.

With more than eighteen years spent studying and teaching German, Tony understands where learners get stuck — and how to explain things in a way that clicks rather than confuses. Sessions are patient, practical, and focused on the language you actually want to use.

There are no scripts or rigid lesson templates. Each session is adapted to how you are doing that day — moving faster when things are clicking, slowing down and approaching from a different angle when something needs more time. Questions are always welcome.

Progress in German is built through consistent, comfortable practice. The goal is not to rush through material — it is to help you feel genuinely more capable in the language over time.
